Speaking about the game genre it is a real estate business simulation that combines elements of sim and tycoon game. But for those who get absorbed and play several levels, it turns out to be an eye-catching challenge.

In Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year, your main tasks are:

1). playing on real estate market (buying and selling lots and houses);

2). constructing, upgrading, demolishing and repairing buildings;

3). increasing your rent rate and earning money from renting the real estate you’ve constructed.

4). increasing the appeal rate of your real estate by painting the buildings (new feature!)

5). voting for the towns you’ve worked in at a Town of the Year Contest.

In Campaign mode, the point is to earn required rent rate, achieve the required appeal rank and build several houses of the required type. Mind that every level is time-limited in this mode. You’ll be playing 2-4 levels in each town.

In Casual mode you’ll have to improve your town and achieve the goals set at no time limitation!

So, here are 10 tips to help you succeed:

1. Try to construct some sort of building on an empty lot. As you understand, one more house will increase your rent rate.

2. Try to construct the most expensive sorts of houses available on the current level. You’ll spend more money on construction once, but it will repay you monthly.

3. To increase the rent value of your house, upgrade it. Each house can be upgraded up to three times. Upgrading a house increases its sales price.

4. To increase appeal rate of a house, paint it. Make sure every house you build is painted.

5. Be quick in repairing damaged houses. If the house is damaged, it doesn’t bring you any rent.

6. Once in a while you’ll receive letters that contain bank checks or useful tips. Be sure to click on envelops that appear on the houses you own.

7. Build the play parks and other sorts of places that increase appeal rate of the neighboring houses between two houses. Thus, you’ll increase the appeal rate of each of the house by 5 points. And, try to keep the buildings like workshops and recycle factories in remote areas of the town.

8. When buying a house, please mind it only makes sense to haggle if two more houses are on sale at the same time. If not, your offer will not be accepted.

9. Construct coffee shop once you have a blueprint for it since it will become the source of regular income for you.

10. Sometimes it’s reasonable to demolish the cheap house you have from the beginning of level and construct something more expensive and posh on its place. Thus, you’ll earn extra rent.
