Doreen, my friend from Australia who’s been enjoying the full version of Laura Jones: The Gates of Good and Evil for two days now has just sent me the walkthrough for 2 last levels for the game. Thanks, Dorrie!

If you haven’t yet played this game, I advise you to read our review of Laura Jones: The Gates of Good and Evil where you can try it for free and purchase the full version.

What you’re going to read below is the detailed description of the last two levels of the game - so, don’t read it unless you badly need help, have tried everything and think that you’re stuck, otherwise it will just spoil your experience.

So, many of our readers have been asking about the spirit catcher and how it should be assembled. So, the answer is the spirit catcher consists of the following hidden objects that you need to find:

1. Lapis lazuli beads(I guess they’re blue) - and it can be easily found on the scene

2. Hoop(easily found)

3. Feathers (in order to get them, pick a knife on the picture, and cut a pillow on the bed with it. Pick the feathers)

4. Scissors(in a table drawer that can be opened with a key located on the top right).

5. Button(in the drawer).

6. Bell(in the corner of the bookcase).

If you get a message you have no space for keeping all the objects, put what you have into a blueprint lying on the chair.

7. Two feathers - on the bookcase.

8. Pieces of red string - you should cut them with your scissors from a red blanket on a bed.

Put everything into the blueprint, you’ll get a sort of amulet.

Attach it to a chandelier - and you’ve got a fully-functional spirit-catcher:). Good luck!

For the rest of the level you’ll be hunting for all the skulls on the scene. I hope this won’t pose you a big problem:).

Finally, we arrive at the last level - Gate of Good and Evil with six amulets, that symbolize Art, Love, Strength, Will, Talent, and Knowledge.

It would be good to start this level with 6-8 hints available, but even if you’ve got none, search for question marks(i.e. extra hints) on the walls of the gates.

The gate includes 3 halls, and one underground hall.

So, your mission in three halls are to:

1. Place an amulet or two on the huge stones so they really fit(make sure a cutting on a stone matches the silhouette of your amulet).

2. Once you place an amulet, some new devices will become available. If you don’t see them in the current hall, exit it and check back in the rest two of them. Devices found in one hall can be applied in a different hall. See a picture of “fully completed hall”

3. In most cases you’ll be collecting golden masks with different facial expressions. When you find the space for all your amulets and collect all of the masks - go to the underground hall and place them on the stones around the center. Actually, I advice you to pop back the underground every time you find a new mask - to place it there so, you’ll have a space for more useful objects.

4. One of the devices released at the end will be a huge stone drawing that shows you the way you should place golden masks in the underground hall. Put it in the center of the hall. This is how the hall should look in the end:

So, speaking about the game plot, it somewhat resembled me Ratatouille cartoon. A little mouse is eager to master all world cuisines. This is why one day he starts his hidden object quest in search of Mystery Cookbook that contains all the recipes and reveals a secret of cooking magnificent meals.

Before Mousy reaches the goal, he needs to scour dozen locations for the lost or hidden objects. The title character will meet different animals that will set tasks for him. Just like in Pirateville and other games, each level begins with a lengthy dialogue between Mousy and an animal character(luckily, you can skip it by clicking).

So, in most levels, you’ll be searching for the lost items. Before you find them, you’ll have to clear the listed objects off the mouth-watering playfield. In most cases, you’ll be playing in restaurants, kitchens and posh dining-rooms of the luxurious manors.

As far as the hidden object types are concerned, you’ll be looking for the hidden objects on a list and based on their silhouettes. On some i spy levels, you’ll have to find the same objects (for example, find all the glasses or watches on a level).

So, as you see, there is no particular original ideas about game play - Mystery Cookbook is a classical i spy game. But it features really eye-pleasing graphics. Musical background is calm and relaxing. No other sound could match the cooking-themed i spy game better.

What adds variety to the game are mini games that you’ll be playing every 3 levels or so. You’ll be solving puzzles by rotating tiles so they’ll make up a picture or challenge your mind with spot-the-difference puzzle.

If you need help, you can grab a piece of cheese at the bottom left of the screen. Be careful! If you’re stuck with no more hints available, never click randomly since you’ll get a time penalty and your time will be reduced by 20 seconds!

Graphics. It’s nice to admit, the graphics in Laura Jones and the Gates of Good and Evil is much better than that of previous puzzle-packed games by Nevosoft. Picturesque view of the campus you’ll be working in, animated i spy and point-and-click scenes are performed with professionalism and talent. The only thing that seems a little bit shabby are the dialogues that you can click through. But luckily, you can skip them.

Gameplay. Since this is an investigation game, no surprise developers stuffed it with all possible sorts of puzzle games. Needless to say, i spy, point and click, and spot-the-difference levels make for the biggest part of the game.

However, it is to say Nevosoft has included a great variety of mini games, like jigsaw, even arcade games appealing to your reaction, even tangrams. Some of the mini-puzzle games remind the tricky door puzzles at MCF: Ravenhearst. Just look at this one(the point is to regulate position of the suns so they will ricochet and redirect the arrow to hit the apple. Once the arrow hits the apple, a hedgehog will get it).

Hints. Generally speaking, Laura Jones and the Gates of Good and Evil is pretty intuitive, so you shouldn’t have difficult time completing the levels and sorting out your next point-and-click step. However, if you’re stuck on a level, you can use hints(they’re on the top right of the screen). Luckily, you can also earn extra hints by clicking the question marks on the playfield.

Tips and tricks for Laura Jones and the Gates of Good and Evil.

1. When you’re stuck, use hints. But first you’d better look for the hidden clues and clues to use in point-and-click levels yourself as most of them are relatively easy to find. Keep your hints for the last couple of objects on a list:).

2. When playing tangrams, place the biggest pieces of the puzzle first. As a rule,after you correctly place a piece of puzzle, it will change its color.

3. For connection puzzle, you’ve got to establish the connection for the cells so all lamps on the fields will glow:).

4. On hidden object levels some objects may be hidden in the safes, drawers that need to be unlocked by entering a secret code or with a key that you need to find elsewhere on a level.

5. Tip for hidden object and ispy levels: the object you’re looking for will glow as you mouse over them. Don’t hesitate to pick them up.

6. If you’re stuck on mini-puzzle sort of MCF: puzzle door, you can skip it, but in such a case you’ll be offered to play another mini-puzzle(just as tricky:)).

Game task: On the most levels, the point is to water and collect vegetables by finding and highlighting the areas on the field with the same vegetable type in the corners.

So, press your left mouse button and move it to highlight the required area, then release to perform a match and collect the veggies grown inside the area. They will be placed into a truck. The eventual point of these levels is to fill the trucks with each vegetable type available.

Mini-games, bonus games – as you complete a certain number of levels growing and collecting the same vegetable sorts, you will be asked to play a time-limited mini-game, where your point will be to perform matches under the strict time limitation, or water and grow the plants by filling your water tank from a truck. As you successfully complete a mini-game, you will unlock a new vegetable type. Say, you start with growing only bananas and tomatoes, but gradually you can expand your assortment by adding pumpkins, egg-plants etc.

Upgrades and bonus system is what makes the whole game pretty dynamic and turns seemingly monotonous matching game play into a never-repeating dynamic dash for crop. Almost every new level introduces a bonus that will allow you to perform matches and find the matching areas quickly. Say, by picking the lost coin bonus you will be shown 5 matching areas. So, you won’t need to put your brain to work.

Butterfly bonus – is what you get when you perform a match using the vegetable with butterfly sitting on it. Wild card appears on the playing field and can be used for matching with any vegetable type.

Between the levels, you’ll visit a farm shop and will be offered to buy new sorts of seeds, equipment to run your farm better (a fence, a well, etc.)

With time, you’ll unlock additional activities for your farm (like oil rigs to bring you extra bucks). And you’ll face new challenges like a rival seeking to bust up your business, rabbits seeking to destroy your crop etc.

Though Little Farm offers a variety of means to keep a player entertained, it still is a typical farming game – with typical characters (city people who move to a farm and have to start everything from scratch) and country music. However, if you love farming games, this is what you might need.

Plot. Game play. Speaking about gameplay, Hide&Secret 2: Cliffhanger Castle is a mix of hidden object and spot-the-difference puzzles. On each level, you’ll be collecting the clues in a new world location.

1. Classical hidden object levels - based on the to-find list.

2. Silhouette-based hidden object levels.

3. Levels, where you’ll be required to find the same items several times.

However, Anarchy Entertainment has introduced a new original challenge into classical i spy game play. On a Texas rancho scene, a huge ghost is placed in the center of the scene. So, it distracts you from seeking the clues in the central part of the play field and follows your every mouse move, which distracts you even more!

Graphics: in spite of live and perfectly-performed voice-over, the visuals between levels illustrating the dialogues of the title characters are not perfect IMHO. But the puzzle scenes depicting Ancient Mayan ruins, Texas rancho, ancient manuscripts are fantastic. They truly communicate you the flavour of each place, just like in Hidden Expedition: Everest.

Hints. On the first levels of the game, you will only have 2-3 hints to use on pretty difficult hidden object scenes. And there’s no way you can get extra hint, which may seem irritating. Even a bad detective should have a chance! So, my only tip for this game is classical: whenever you’re stuck with no more hints and need to find some clues to complete a level, take your time, split the scene into squares and try to search on each sqare inch of the playfield. Don’t click randomly, since you’ll be unable to play for a while after that. Luckily, levels in this game have no time limitation.
