Game plot. Speaking of the game plot, you’re going to help Egyptian princess Annabel reunite with her beloved Akhenaten and escape the evil will of the pharaoh seeking to kill Akhenaten and marry Annabel. According to the legend, Pharaoh has achieved what he wanted. He killed Annabel’s beloved and married the princess. As a result of this legend with the unhappy ending, there is an ancient curse. Every 10 years a young girl disappears. Annabel, a modern scientist and expert in Egyptian history seems to be the next victim. It’s totally up to you to help both girls stand up to all the challenges and turn the course of history to stop the curse and let lovers reunite.
Graphics. The graphics of the game is just amazing. It was a bit unusual for me to find a casual game with real 3D visuals approaching to the realistic video of core games that create the illusion of a 3-dimensional world that static screenshots just cannot communicate. While running in winding labyrinths, long corridors, looking around – you’ll have to learn to orientate in this world.

Technical side. But notwithstanding the weighty filesize, the technical requirements are rather democratic, meaning it does not take a space shuttle board computer to play Annabel. The game ran smoothly on my Toshiba Satellite L300-11g – a notebook hardly for core gamers with a “so-so” graphical card.

Due to 3D graphics the games breathes the grandeur of Ancient Egypt that makes you tremble in front of every door you’re about to open (provided you’re as emotional as me:)). This is because you do not know what’s waiting for you behind the door – a hungry crocodile, a cobra, a talking mummy or some crazy mechanism that you need to crack to get to the next stage.

On the other hand, those interested in the history of Ancient Egypt might want to try this game since it is an interesting cultural experience. It will let you inside the pharaoh’s palace, check out the interior of the royal chambers as well as Egyptian village hut, watch the Egyptian wall paintings, ramble inside a pyramid and take a close look at the mechanism of the Egyptian ships.

Gameplay. Judging from everything said above, the game cannot be called casual. It looka like a core quest… But here

comes the most interesting part. Annabel offers the casual game fans a gripping experience combining point-and-click and hidden object gameplay mixed with numerous mini-puzzles of all kinds.

The main game mechanics in Annabel is still point-and-click since you’ll be searching for the elements of objects and them apply them. At times you’ll have a task of finding several objects of the same kind – say – bottles with potion, fishing hooks, roses etc.

Every now and then to proceed in game, you’ll have a mini-game. Developers have used a wealth of puzzles: match-a-pair, mosaic, jigsaw, domino, connection puzzle, assembling clock mechanism etc, etc. Hints are not available in mini-games and there is no opportunity to skip them.
